Historical Significance
- The history of Bhaskargad is rich and layered, making this trek a must for heritage lovers.
- 1271–1308 AD – Ruled by the Yadavas of Devagiri, who are credited with building the fort.
- Later came under Bahamani Sultanate and then Nizamshahi of Ahmednagar.
- In 1629 AD, Shahaji Raje, father of Shivaji Maharaj, revolted and took control of the fort.
- 1633 AD – Mughals captured Bhaskargad after Shahaji’s Maharaj defeat.
- 1670 AD – Moropant Pingle, Peshwa of Shivaji Maharaj, captured it from the Mughals.
- 1688 AD – Mughals recaptured it.
- 1730 AD – The Koli tribe revolted and seized the fort.
- 1818 AD – British (East India Company) took control under Captain Briggs.
